ABOUT SHAWN

Shawn Hui has completed his Bachelor of Music Classical Performance with First Class Honours studying under Dr Anna Goldsworthy and Mrs Eleonora Sivan. He is currently studying Master of Philosophy in Performance under the supervision of Stephen Whittington and Anna Goldsworthy, whilst maintaining regular consultation with Eleonora Sivan. 

In his undergraduate study, Shawn was the recipient of multiple scholarships, including the Muriel Perry Scholarship, and the Patrick Cecil Greenland Scholarship for Pianoforte which assisted him greatly in his studies. He is currently receiving the Research Training Program Scholarship to support his Master of Philosophy research. 

Shawn has been a regular performer in Adelaide ever since he moved here from Newcastle in 2019, with several musical festival performances including She Speaks, PianoLab, and Adelaide Fringe. In 2021, he appeared for his concerto debut with the Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. His performances became even more frequent ever since he was selected as one of three recipients for the 2022 Recitals Australia Elder Conservatorium Fellowship program. His performances around Adelaide were recognised and praised by the Adelaide Critic Circle and was awarded the Emerging Artist of the Year Award in 2022. Shawn is currently a member of the Recitals Australia council.
