ABOUT ANDREW

Andrew Miao is a young piano player whose love for music shines through every performance. From a very early age, he discovered a strong interest in the piano and has been gradually building his skills as a performer. Under the guidance of his early teacher, Mr. Yong Cheong Lye, and his current mentor, Dr. Debra Andreacchio, Andrew has developed solid technical skills and a thoughtful approach to interpretation. He has received recognition in competitions such as the Adelaide Eisteddfod and has been invited to perform in events at the Elder Conservatorium. Andrew enjoys the challenge of learning new pieces and sharing music with others, whether on stage or in a more intimate setting. For him, music is a meaningful part of his life – one that continues to nurture his growth and bring joy to those around him.

ABOUT RYAN

Ryan is a Year 7 student at Prince Alfred College. At the age of 5, he began learning the violin under the guidance of Mr. Sam Howes. Later, he continued his musical education at the Open Music Academy, studying under the tutelage of Helen Ayres. A passionate musician, Ryan enjoys playing music from various periods. He has gained recognition through his performances in the Eisteddfod competitions, Junior Ensemble Musicians Showcase (JEMS), collaborative AMEB exams, and Recitals Australia Junior Series. Ryan has also attended state music camp and performed in Sinfonia, a division of the Adelaide Youth Orchestras. In addition, he volunteers to the piano at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where one patient’s relative shared a memorable comment: “Every day I take home a memory, and today this is the one I’ll take with me.” Ryan was awarded AmusA in Piano in 2024 and is currently preparing for his Grade 8 violin exam. In his free time, he enjoys playing badminton, squash, coding and chess.
