ABOUT Akane
Akane Mears is a first-year student at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, where she studies the flute under the tutelage of Dr Julia Grenfell. Graduating from Marryatville High School’s Special Interest Music program as Music Captain (2025), Akane has performed in the Adelaide Town Hall as soloist in Chaminade’s Concertino for flute and orchestra and was a recipient of the Friends of Music Service Award. She was recognized by the SACE Board with the prestigious Campbell Award for the highest achieving student in a Government School (2025), having achieved 5 subject merits including Music Studies, Solo Performance and Ensemble Performance.
