ABOUT Connor

Connor Fogarty (b. 1998) is an Australian composer of solo, chamber, choral, symphonic wind, and orchestral music. He holds a PhD in music composition from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide, where he studied under Professor Graeme Koehne and Professor Charles Bodman Rae. Connor’s works have been performed and recorded by ensembles such as the Australian String Quartet, Australian Youth Orchestra, and Adelaide Wind Orchestra, and leading musicians such as Celia Craig, Umberto Clerici, and Daniel de Borah. He has received grants and awards for his work from organisations such as the Helpmann Academy, Carclew, Artology, and the Accompanists’ Guild of South Australia. A recent career highlight was the performance of his new chamber concerto Threads by Opus Novus at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatorium in Singapore as part of the Australian High Commission, Singapore’s 60th Anniversary Gala.

ABOUT Josh

Josh van Konkelenberg studied piano at The University of Adelaide and the Australian National Academy of Music, and then organ and improvisation with David Graham and Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin at the Royal College of Music. He received the degree of Master of Music with distinction in 2012, and completed the Ph.D. in Composition (at The University of Adelaide) in the same year. Josh was awarded the Walford. E. Davies Prize for Dux of the Organ Faculty at the Royal College of Music, and has been the recipient of grants from the Australia Council for the Arts and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, an University of Adelaide Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement, and an Australian Postgraduate Award. He was the Artistic and Musical Director of Co-Opera from 2017-2021, and has toured with Opera Australia as a pianist for their school’s production and regional chorus master for their touring productions. In 2022, he was the conductor for State Opera South Australia’s national tour of Love Burns and received first-class honours in conducting from The University of Adelaide in 2023.
