ABOUT ANTHONY
Anthony Cernaz is a passionate, young Australian pianist whose work reflects both technical precision and emotional depth. Currently based in Adelaide, Anthony has emerged as a promising talent in the Adelaide music scene, particularly known for his work in classical piano and composition.
Anthony’s musical journey began at the age of 9, studying piano in China. Over the years, he has undertaken formal music education with Yvette Baer & Gil Sullivan and currently completing Year 11 music studies with a focus on music composition with Aldis Sils, Jasmin Feneley and Deanna Whelan.
As a performer, Anthony has participated in Adelaide Eisteddfods and MTASA performance days. Most recently, he was invited to a masterclass for the APPC under the guidance Nicholas Mathew in Elder Hall showcasing his interpretation of the Beethoven’s “Les Adieux” Sonata. In addition, he has composed many original works, including several pieces for solo piano and he is currently writing an ambitious 20 variation cycle on Schubert’s Lied, Heidenröslein. Throughout his development, Anthony has been deeply influenced by classical composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff etc, drawing inspiration from their indvidual piano works as he is particularly interested in solo piano recitals and composition, which informs much of his creative output.
Outside of performance, Anthony has been involved with many of Marryatville High School’s ensembles such as Concert Band I, Symphony Orchestra, and Big Band I just to name a few. He continues to explore his passion for music through collaborative projects and recording initiatives. With a strong work ethic, curiosity, and passion for music, Anthony brings a unique and evolving voice to every performance. Outside of music, he enjoys an active social life, which often inspires his artistic ideas and creative direction.
