ABOUT JAMES
I am James Yip, a pianist and educator from Hong Kong, who graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Master of Music in Performance and Pedagogy, majoring in piano. My passion lies in the Romantic, Classical, and Baroque periods, with Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Liszt among my favourite composers.
In 2021, I completed my Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance at the University of Adelaide. I was awarded the AMusA diploma in piano from the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) in 2022 and completed my Master of Music in Performance and Pedagogy in 2023. My academic journey was distinguished by prestigious scholarships, including the Charles Jessop Scholarship and the Sir Charles Bright Scholarship, recognizing my commitment to music and education.
As a dedicated music teacher, I mentor students of all levels, fostering both technical excellence and artistic expression. Nearly all of my students who undertake AMEB exams achieve outstanding results, consistently earning A or higher grades. I am also certified in Kodály Music Education, which enhances my ability to tailor lessons to each student’s individual learning style and musical journey.
Beyond teaching, I am an active performer, regularly engaging in recitals and concerts to share my love of piano music with audiences. My notable performances include the Recitals Australia Lunch Hour Series and charity concerts such as Twilight in Tanunda. Whether in the studio or on stage, I strive to inspire others with the beauty and depth of classical music.
