The Lunch Hour Series provides emerging artists performance experience in front of a live audience, as well as supplying a high quality live stream for excellent learning opportunities, and for sharing with family and friends.

We appreciate your interest in wanting to perform in a live-streamed Recitals Australia Lunch Hour series, and we especially welcome hearing from performers who have not performed with us before. We encourage solo performers, duo ensembles and piano duos.

To enter for the opportunity of being a performer, please complete the entry form below. This will then be assessed by the Recitals Australia advisory panel and you will be notified if you have won a spot in the Lunch Hour Series. The entrants who win will be awarded a place in the upcoming Lunch Hour Series and a cash prize of $100 (for individuals) or $150 (for duos or small ensembles).

Recitals Australia requires that you have attained at least the level of AMEB Certificate of Performance (or equivalent), are under the age of 30 at the time applications for the Series close), do not yet have an established professional career in music, and live or spend most of your time in South Australia.

To enter, you will also need to supply Recitals Australia with a reference or recommendation from your teacher or a professional musician and a recent video of you playing.

When the season’s Lunch Hour Series has concluded, all performers will be judged by a judging panel and the winners will be invited to compete in the Lunch Hour Series Final for cash prizes of up to $1,000.

Please note that Lunch Hour Concerts are live-streamed and archived on this website. It is a non-negotiable precondition of performing in a Recitals Australia Lunch Hour series concert that you agree to your performance being live-streamed. You may later request that the recording be removed from the archive, if necessary.

About the Music

Please state the instrument(s) on which you will perform (e.g. piano, violin, flute, harp, organ)
The program can be updated later, closer to your recital date. Please indicate a likely program (including name(s) of composer(s)) if your application to perform is successful.
Please provide a recording of you performing. Please use a YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Google Drive or other convenient service. It does not have to be your planned repertoire. (Make sure the link is not locked – so that we can access it)

Tips and Tricks

Photo – If you are an emerging artist wishing to be taken seriously, make sure you have a great head shot photo, with your instrument, which is clear and creative. Look through our Virtuosi Page for inspiration! This will be used by organisers to advertise all of your upcoming concerts.

Bio – write a 80 to 150 word biography of your experience and education: when you started, who you study with, level attained, interesting performances, awards you have received can all be discussed in this bio. Make sure your contact details are stated!

Audio – have some sample audio clips or video clips of you playing, this will be invaluable when you are seeking opportunities or applying for funding. Make sure your clips show your technical and musical abilities as strongly as possible. If you are being accompanied, make sure your collaborative artist adds value to your performance.
