Andreas Ottensamer, principal clarinettist of the Berlin Philharmonic, has captured audiences and critics alike with the singular beauty of tone that he coaxes from the clarinet. He is joined in recital by Australian pianist and regular collaborator Alex Raineri.
Ottensamer performs as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the world with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin under distinguised conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Andris Nelsons, Pablo Heras-Casado and Alan Gilbert. His artistic partnerships as chamber musician include work with Murray Perahia, Leif Ove Andsnes, Leonidas Kavakos, Janine Jansen, Sol Gabetta and Yo-Yo Ma. Together with pianist José Gallardo he is artistic director of the Bürgenstock Festival in Switzerland.
The program features Grand Duo Concertant Op. 48 by Weber, a selection of Mendelssohn ‘Songs Without Words’, Brahms Intermezzo, Debussy Premier Rhapsody, Gershwin ‘3 preludes’ and Horowitz Sonatina. With thanks to the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra
